The Varandey oil loading terminal is located in the Nenets Autonomous Okrug, on the coast of the Pechora Sea. The terminal is situated 23 km. offshore. It is an integrated part of the oil export system in the Timan-Pechora oil and gas province. It was built as part of the development of the nearby Yuzhno-Khylchuyu field.
The terminal belongs to Russian oil major LUKOIL. The hydrocarbons are supplied by sub sea pipeline to tankers with deadweight up to 20,000 tonnes.
The oil is shipped to Europe and USA. The first oil shipment to Europe was made in August of 2000. The oil export terminal has capacity of up to 12 million tonnes of oil per year.

The company Varandey Terminal, which operated Lukoil’s port in Varandey on the coast of the Pechora Sea, in 2009 boosted net profits almost 14 times year-on-year.
While the profits of the terminal in 2008 was 110 million RUB, the profits in 2009 increased to 1,5 billion RUB, Oilru.com reports.
