Police raided Karelian election observers

Regional police in the Republic of Karelia before the State Duma elections raided the offices of the ”Golos” election monitoring association. On election day, a member of the association was arrested after having taken a photo of illegal agitation material in a polling station.
First, the police without the consent of the association conducted a search in the offices. On election day, the 21 year old Yevgenia Lyzgina snatched a photo of party agitation materials in the polling station and was subsequently detained by police. She was released only after a lawyer had been put on the case.
