Norway meets EU, Russia in Sankt Petersburg

ND meeting, St Petersburg (Geir Seljeseth)

The establishment of a new Partnership on Transport and Logistics will be one of the main issues in today’s ministerial meeting on the Northern Dimension between the EU, Russia, Norway and Iceland. Norway wants the new partnership to focus on the Barents Sea.

Location

The meeting between the foreign ministers will be held within the frames of the EU-Russia Permanent Partnership Council on foreign affairs.

Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Jonas Gahr Støre says to BarentsObserver that he is excited about the Northern Dimension meeting.

-I hope we together can find good and positive solutions to challenges in the corner of Europe, he told BarentsObserver on the way to the meeting held in the Yusupovo castle in Sankt Petersburg.

Mr. Støre also highlights that the Norwegian task is to make the new Northern Dimension partnership look towards the High North.

The Permanent Partnership Council (PPC) on foreign affairs generally meets twice a year in troika format at ministerial level. The aim of this Council is to conduct dialogue and prepare the next EU-Russia Summit.
