New oil export terminal for Timan-Pechora

Nenets Autonomous Okrug proposes to build a new port terminal in Indiga for exports of oil shipments. The port will take advantage of the Northern Maritime Corridor project, a representative of the Nenets AO administration says.

Mr. Sergey Kokarev, the Nenets AO’s representative in Moscow confirms that the Indiga port will be used for shipments of hydrocarbons extracted in coastal areas and in the nearby Pechora Sea, Rosbaltnord.ru reports. -Now, when Russia is elaborating on the revival of the Northern Sea Route, we propose to create a port terminal in Indiga, Mr. Kokarev says. Indiga is also the end site for a planned oil pipeline to the Barents Sea. The Indiga-area has favourable water depths and ice conditions. The Nenets AO is located in the Timan-Pechora district well known for its hydrocarbon resources. This year, Lukoil and ConocoPhillips open their new sea port of Varandey located north-east of the regional capital of Naryan-Mar.
