New governor cuts staff

The newly appointed governor in the Republic of Karelia is significantly cutting staff and government bodies with a minimum of ten percent.
Governor Andrei Nelidov is taking a number of measures on making his regional management more efficient, newspaper Rossiiskaya Gazeta reports.
The number of ministries and government bodies will be reduced with “a minimum of ten percent”. Similar staff cut will be made.
Also the format of government sessions will be changed. Full government meetings will from now on be held no more than once a month, while more decisions moved to the smaller government presidium consisting of only the governor and his deputies.
Governor Nelidov will also close the region’s representation office in Sankt Petersburg, a unit which employs ten persons. In addition, he will restructure the functions and representation of the regional office working with the Presidential administration in Moscow.
As previously reported, Andrey Nelidov in July this year took over the postion as leader of the Republic of Karelia from the long-serving Sergei Katanandov
