Navigation satellite launched from Plesetsk

Russia’s own navigation system got one more satellite on Saturday.

Location

The satellite is a part of Russia’s GLONASS system, equivalent to the U.S. GPS navigation, the planned European Galileo positioning system and the Chinese Compass navigation system.

With the new satellite launched this weekend, the Russia’s GLONASS system consists of 23 satellites.

The launch was the first, after three such satellites were lost in launch failures in December, reports spacetoday.net.
