ONS is the second biggest oil and gas conference in the world after the annual Huston petroleum conference in USA.
At the Kirkenes Industry Breakfast held during this year’s ONS oil and gas Exhibition and Conference last week, more than 100 persons from the oil and gas industry gathered for an early morning briefing on the business opportunities in the Arctic North.
For the past two years, and under the heading “In pole position” - Kirkenes has been marketing the municipality and their industry companies towards the international oil and gas supplier companies.
The border town’s location close to the Shtokman field attracts interest. With the agreement between Norway and Russia on the delimitation line in the Barents Sea, many new opportunities opens up. Both ASCO and CCB, two experienced Oilbase operators have established themselves in Kirkenes, and the Mayor of Kirkenes, Mrs. Linda Randal is happy to have two competitors offering their services from Kirkenes.
- Companies fighting side-by-side makes them and the environment around them better at what they do. We need to show that we have an industry that has both knowledge, eagerness to serve and with good understanding of the Russian market, says Linda Randal.
