Enhanced control on personal imports of meat and milk from Russia
Russian sausages
In February, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority and the Customs at Storskog will have a campaign against so-called “luggage meat”, that means meat, meat products, milk and milk products that travelers bring in from Russia. It is forbidden to take this kind of goods from countries outside the EU/EEA because of the danger of infectious animal diseases.
- We have registered that travelers often bring meat, sausages, chicken, yoghurt and other dairy products from Russia to Norway, the Norwegian Food Safety Authority writes in a press release.
The authorities will put up “amnesty garbage cans” where travelers can place illegal foodstuffs without risking legal persecution.
