Murmansk transport hub one step further realization

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has signed a decree on implementation of the project “Development of Murmansk Transport Hub”. The decree entitles involved federal bodies to buy or expropriate land plots.

Location

The decree that was signed by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin this week, states that Development of the Murmansk Transport Hub will be financed by the federal budget as part of the earmarked program “Development of Russia’s transport system 2010-2015” and by the Murmansk regional budget and private investors.

Murmansk port will become a northern Russian hub for container shipping, oil reloading and coal and fertilizers terminals, and will be integrated in the International North-South Transport Corridor.

According to the decree, the Federal Agency for Sea and Inland Water Transport (Rosmorrechflot), the Federal Road Agency (Rosavtodor) and the Federal Agency for Railroad Transport are entrusted to organize expropriation of land plots for federal use and to conclude agreements on acquisition of plots.
